Take Action

With a growing global population of elderly people, and as longevity increases, abuse of the elderly is an increasing and serious problem that affects health and human rights and can cause death, so it is vital to raise awareness of it and thus prevent it whenever and wherever possible.

June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month, and Adult Protective Services (APS) is working with community partners and professional groups around the state to raise awareness about adult abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation. In June, we host the World Elder Abuse Awareness Walk in McAllen, Texas, the World Elder Abuse Awareness Parade in Edinburg, Texas, and Light Up Purple at Mcallen Performing Arts and Senior Recognition Day in Hidalgo, Texas.

Join us each year for these community awareness events, together we can make a DIFFERENCE!

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION

At Silver Ribbon Community Partners, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are core to who we are and what we do. Our mission is to provide advocacy, education, and resources necessary to prevent the elderly or disabled from becoming victims of abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation. To fulfill that mission, our leadership and staff must reflect the diversity of the many different communities we serve around the world, that we are intentional about including groups that have been historically excluded in co-creating solutions to community challenges, and that we apply an equity lens to everything we do, to ensure that every person in every community has access to the opportunities they need to reach their full potential.
